The Aim of the Game. Trading like an athlete.
About this episode:
Can the game of trading be compared to an elite sport? What does it take to win? According to Linda Raschke, the similarities are more than you'd expect and yes, she believes sleep, diet and exercise are also important for a trader to stay relaxed, focused and consistent. Linda has been trading for over 35 years, starting out in the pit before running her own top-ranking hedge fund. In this episode, Linda takes our Australian chief market strategist, Michael McCarthy, through her training 'homework' step by step. Find out why she thinks preparation is key to winning in finance.
Linda Raschke
Linda Raschke began her professional trading career in 1981, making markets in options as a member of two exchanges. She became a registered CTA (commodity trading advisor) in 1992. Since then, she has been the principal trader for several funds and started her own hedge fund in 2002, for which she was the CPO (commodity pool operator). Linda's hedge fund was ranked 17th out of 4,500 for best five-year performance by Barclays Hedge and her early successes were recognised by Jack Schwager in his renowned Market Wizards series. Linda retired as a CPO and CTA in 2015. However, she continues to trade daily for her own account - the same programme that she has traded since 1992.
In the world of professional trading and money management, Linda stands out from the crowd for three factors (all of which should be priorities for any serious trader): performance, longevity and consistency.
