How can I switch between my different CMC Markets accounts?

It’s easy to switch between your CMC Markets accounts – If you’re using our desktop trading platform, go to the ‘My Accounts’ tab on the left of the screen and choose the account you wish to view from the list. Alternatively, click on your account number in the top-left corner of the screen and select the account you wish to view from the ‘Account Selection’ window.

If you’re using an iPhone or iPad, select the 'More' button (with the three dots), tap ‘Select Account’ and choose the account you wish to view. On an Android device, tap the three lines at the top of the screen, then tap anywhere in the blue section at the top of the side menu and choose the account you wish to view from the list.

What does CMC Markets do with my personal information?

We may use your information to make further enquiries about you, including checks to combat fraud. We do not sell your personal information to any third parties for marketing purposes. How do I log in to my CMC Markets account?

Once we’ve sent you confirmation that your account has been opened and after you’ve verified your email address, you can log into your account via our website. To log in, enter your registered email address and password.

How do I log in to MT4 for the first time?

Firstly, you'll need to create an MT4 demo or live account.

Your MT4 password is separate from your CMC Markets admin portal password. To set your MT4 password, please log in to the admin portal using the password you created on the application form.

  1. Log in to the CMC website.

  2. Navigate to your MT4 account.

  3. Click on Settings.

  4. Select Change Password.

  5. Update your MT4 password, not your main account password.

  6. Download and install the MT4 software.

  7. Log in to MT4 software.

  8. Click on File.

  9. Select Login to Trade Account.

  10. Enter your account number and new password.

  11. Select the server CMCMarkets1 – Canada.

  12. Once you have completed these steps, you should be able to log into your MT4 account without any problems.

How do I fund my account?

Why am I unable to place new trades?

Trading may be restricted for the following reasons:

Reduce Only: Your account is set to "Reduce Only," which prevents you from entering any new trades. Common reasons for this include:

  • Cumulative Risk Limit (CRL): Your cumulative loss has exceeded a certain percentage of your declared CRL. Please contact our client services team to update your CRL.

  • Pending Client Information Review: You need to complete your annual Client Information Review. Please log in to your admin portal to confirm your personal information, as this is a regulatory requirement.

Insufficient Available Funds: Your account does not have enough Available Funds to place the trade. Please fund your account or close some positions.

How do I place a trade?

On our desktop trading platform and mobile apps, select the buy or sell price for your chosen instrument, and an order ticket will appear. Choose between a Market Order, Limit Order, or Stop Entry Order, enter your trade size and any Stop Loss or Take Profit levels, and then place your trade by pressing the Place Buy Market Order or Place Sell Market Order button.

How do I reset my password?

You can reset your password by selecting ‘Forgot password?’ on the login page. We will then send instructions for changing your password to the email address you use to log into your account.

Do you offer a demo account?

Yes, we offer a free demo account. It comes with virtual funds, allowing you to practice trading on our platform in a risk-free environment.

Please note that you can choose to activate prices for share CFDs on a demo account for a calendar month – activating on the first day of any month offers the maximum amount of time to practice trading on shares.

Once you've opened a demo account, we’ll send a verification link to your registered email address. Simply select the verification link to activate your demo account.

Where can I find my account number?

On our desktop trading platform, your account number – sometimes referred to as your ‘Account ID’ – is in the top-left corner of the screen. Your account number can also be found in the email we sent you to confirm the opening of your account. If you use more than one of our products, you’ll have more than one account number.

To find your account number(s) on an iPhone or iPad, select the 'More' button (with the three dots), then choose 'My Accounts'.

On an Android device, tap the three lines at the top of the screen, then choose 'My Accounts'.

How do I withdraw funds from my CMC Markets account?

You can withdraw funds from your account online by clicking on the 'Payments' icon and then selecting the 'Withdrawals' tab.

Please be aware that for your protection, we may request additional information and/or proof of identity before processing the withdrawal request.

We do not transfer funds to a third-party account so please ensure that the bank account is in your name.

Card withdrawals: To withdraw to a credit card, you must have used that card to add funds to your account before.

Bank transfer: You must register your bank account from where you deposited from before withdrawals. You can upload your bank statement / void cheque / direct deposit form in the funding hub for bank linkage.

Additionally, you can set up the two-factor authentication (2FA) security measure on your account(s) for withdrawals and logging in. Once you've switched on 2FA for your account, it will become a mandatory step for withdrawals.

How do I link a bank account for withdrawals?

To initiate the registration of your bank account, please verify that there are sufficient funds available in the account you wish to link. If necessary, you can confirm this by making a small deposit via your bank's online bill payment system.

Once you've confirmed the funds are available, kindly provide one of the following documents for verification purposes:

a. Bank statement

b. Void check

c. Direct deposit form

The bank account must be the same as where you deposited from. If there is no prior deposit from your bank account, we will be unable to link with your bank account for withdrawal.

The document you submit should clearly display your bank account number, routing number, and full name.

Once set up you will receive a confirmation email with instructions on how to perform withdrawals via our online portal.
