Coterra Energy (formerly known as Cabot Oil & Gas) is an independent exploration and production company. It was founded in 1989 and has headquarters in Houston, Texas. The company focuses on hydrocarbon exploration for natural gas within the Appalachian region; in particular, the Marcellus Shale rock formations. At the end of 2020, Coterra had approximately 13.7 trillion cubic feet equivalent of proved reserves, with a net production of over 2.3 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day. The company holds top-tier assets onshore across the US while remaining at the lower end of the cost of supply curve.
