Grab is a Southeast Asian holding company that has headquarters in Singapore and Indonesia. It was founded in 2012 as a market-leading app offering ride-hailing services and has since expanded its offering to food delivery and digital payment solutions as well. Grab operates in over 500 cities and towns across Southeast Asia, with a significant presence in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines and Thailand. Before merging with special-purpose acquisition company (SPAC) Altimeter Growth Corp in 2021, it was the region’s most valuable start-up with a valuation of more than $16bn, according to Reuters, making it a so-called “decacorn” company.
