Coinbase is a US cryptocurrency exchange platform that was founded in 2012. As of 2021, it’s the largest cryptocurrency exchange in the US by trading volume and a leader worldwide. Coinbase operates a remote-working business model and therefore lacks official headquarters, although it serves in over 100 countries. Its platform allows customers to buy and sell major digital currencies such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Litecoin, as well as alternative cryptos or ‘altcoins’ such as Cardano, Dash, and Dogecoin. The company acts as a broker for both retail and institutional traders, who can trade cryptocurrencies via desktop and a mobile app that’s available on iOS and Android devices.
