3i is a British venture capital and investment firm founded in 1945 with headquarters in London. Its aim is to invest into mid-market companies with an enterprise value of between €100 and €500, generate returns, and re-invest capital, which it achieves through its two businesses focusing on private equity and infrastructure. The company has a total portfolio value of around £17bn. 3i has operations in seven offices across Europe, Asia and North America, where 98% of portfolio revenues come from international businesses. It focuses on four core sectors: business and technology services, consumer, healthcare, and industrial technology. The typical holding period for the business’s investments is between 3-5 years, although this may be extended depending on the strategy. 3i stock is listed on the London Stock Exchange and is a constituent of the FTSE 100 index.
