The Vanguard Materials ETF is a passively managed exchange-traded fund that tracks the performance of a benchmark US index measuring large, mid and small-cap companies within the materials sector. This includes over 100 companies that extract or process raw materials, such as aluminium, copper, commodity chemicals, gold, steel, and industrial gases. VAW was created in 2004 and has net assets of $4.9bn, as well as an expense ratio of 0.10%. Examples of top-weighted holdings within the Vanguard Materials ETF include Linde, Sherwin-Williams, Ecolab, Newmont Corporation, Dow Inc, PPG Industries, and DuPont de Nemours.
