The VanEck Vectors Gold Miners ETF (GDX) is an exchange-traded fund that invests in the stocks of global gold and silver producers with a high market capitalisation and trading liquidity. The fund was created in 2015 and has over 50 holdings, with net assets of $718m and an expense ratio of 0.53%. Top-weighted holdings include Newmont Corporation, Barrick Gold, Franco-Nevada, Gold Fields, Newcrest Mining, and Kinross Gold. Almost 50% of the fund’s holdings belong to Canada, followed by the US, Australia, and Brazil.
