Cocoa is a luxury commodity primarily used in the production of chocolate. It’s known as a soft commodity that’s harvested from the tropical cacao tree and later turned into the form of cocoa paste, butter, or powder. The discovery of cocoa dates back to the 1500s, and top producing countries include tropical regions such as Brazil, Ivory Coast, Indonesia, Ghana, and Ecuador.
