NZX is a financial services company that operates the New Zealand Stock Exchange (NZSE), as well as several other derivative, debt, capital, and commodity markets across the country. As of 2022, the NZSE has over 180 listed companies and a market capitalisation of NZD $187.6bn, with prominent holdings such as Westpac, Australia and New Zealand Banking Group (ANZ), Meridian Energy, and Fisher & Paykel. It was founded in 2002 and has headquarters in Wellington. The company owns subsidiaries including Smartshares, the only ETF issuer in the country; Wealth Technologies, a wealth management services provider; and SuperLife, a provider for the national savings scheme KiwiSaver.
