CFD commission rates explained
You'll pay zero commission when you trade contracts for difference (CFDs) on 2,500 UK and European shares and ETFs (excludes listings in Greece). When trading CFDs on shares from other countries and regions, such as the US, a commission is charged to your account when you execute an order. View our example to learn how we calculate commission on share CFDs. You can also see our commission rates by country in the table below.
Charges will vary depending on the country that the share originates from
This can come in the form of a percentage or fixed monetary value
Only the share market is affected
All charges will be converted to your account currency at our prevailing currency conversion rate
US shares example
The commission for a US share is 2 US cents per share, subject to a minimum commission charge of $10.
So a 600 unit trade in Caterpillar at a price of 80.95 would incur a commission of $12.00 based on the following calculation:
600 (units) x $0.02 (commission charge per unit) = $12.00
But a 300 unit trade in Caterpillar at a price of 80.95 would incur a minimum commission charge of $10.00 based on the following calculation:
300 (units) x $0.02 (commission charge per unit) = $6.00
The actual commission on this trade is less than the $10.00 minimum commission charge on US share CFDs, so instead the minimum commission charge of $10.00 is applied.
Share CFD commission charges
There's 0% commission on UK and European share CFDs (excluding Greek shares).
For non-US shares, non-UK and non-European shares, the commission is calculated as a percentage charge of the value of the order. Commissions on US shares are charged at 2 cents per share.
All commission charges will be converted to your account currency at our prevailing currency conversion rate. Read more about our trading costs
