With a history stretching back 144 years, the NSW Waratahs, or 'Tahs' as they are affectionately known as, are the oldest provincial rugby body in the southern hemisphere and one of Australia's most seminal rugby teams, representing the State of New South Wales in the annual Super Rugby competition.
The NSW Waratahs were crowned Super Rugby champions in 2014 after beating the Crusaders in a thrilling final at ANZ Stadium in Sydney. A year later the NSW Waratahs finished second behind eventual winners, the Highlanders of New Zealand.
The 2018 season represents a fresh start for the men in blue with an exciting group of young players joining some of the game’s biggest names.

Super Rugby continues to be the pride of southern hemisphere rivalry and comprises of teams from Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Argentina and Japan. Super Rugby is the pinnacle of men's professional club rugby throughout the southern hemisphere. The competition started out as the South Pacific championship in 1986, comprising six teams. In subsequent years, the game progressed to 12, 14, and 15 teams. In 2016, the evolution of Super Rugby continued with three new sides introduced to an expanded four-conference model that boosts the rivalry and passion of previous seasons, driving Super Rugby, and it’s 18 competing teams, into an exciting new era.
