Ever since William Webb Ellis first ran with a ball in Rugby in 1823, the internal rivalry between the forwards and the backs has never ceased. For centuries, the friendly banter between the “pretty boys” in the back and the “piggies” up front has been a source of competitive divide, a rift as old as Rugby itself.

With a history stretching back some 140 years, the NSW Waratahs, or 'Tahs' as they are popularly known, are the oldest provincial rugby body in the southern hemisphere – and one of Australia's most seminal rugby teams, representing the majority of New South Wales in the annual Super Rugby championships.
The NSW Waratahs were Super Rugby Champions in 2014 beating the Crusaders in a thrilling final. The team then backed up in 2015 finishing second overall, falling one game short in the semi-finals losing to the Highlanders. In 2016, the Waratahs had a slower start to the year finishing second in the Australian conference and tenth overall.
