Friday’s flash EU numbers are expected to confirm a 0.6% rise in Q1 GDP, helped by a decent performance from the German economy, which is also expected to see a 0.6% gain.

The beleaguered US consumer is in focus with retailers including Macy’s (Wed), Kohl’s (Thu) and JC Penney (Fri) all reporting Q1 earnings before Friday’s retail sales data.
