A surprise jump in retail sales in April suggested an early-stage US consumer comeback – will Thursday’s durable goods orders confirm the recovery?

UK and US to confirm slowing growth rates 
We can expect to see the latest confirmation of a significantly weaker US economy in Q1, with a GDP number of 0.5%, while UK GDP (Thu 26) is expected to fall to 0.4%.
