Is UK inflation on the up?
Sterling’s sharp decline in the wake of June’s Brexit vote may have put upward pressure on the consumer price index. After June’s rise to 0.5%, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see further upward pressure in July’s numbers.

UK unemployment & wages steady – for now
It remains too early to glean any clues following Brexit, but at least companies were still hiring steadily in the lead-up to the vote. June’s unemployment is expected to remain at 4.9%, with earnings staying at 2.3%.
Will July’s FOMC minutes mislead the markets?
After recent improved data, there’s a risk the FOMC could paint a generally more positive outlook for the US economy, raising market perception that an early September rate rise is more likely.
US retailers feel the heat
Wal-Mart’s acquisition of web retailer Jet.com shows the effect the likes of Amazon are having on traditional retail. Q2 updates from Target (Wed), Lowe's (Wed) and Wal-Mart (Thu) are likely to point to an increasingly competitive environment.
