What is forex trading?

Forex, also known as foreign exchange or FX, is the exchange of different currencies on a decentralised global market. It is one of the largest and most widely traded markets in the world. Forex trading is the simultaneous buying and selling of global currencies on this market.
Forex is always traded in pairs, for example GBP/USD (sterling v US dollar). Our forex pairs are available to spread bet. You speculate on the price of whether the price of one currency will rise or fall against the other currency, and take a position accordingly.

What is spread betting?

Spread betting is a tax-free^ way to trade on the price movements of thousands of global instruments. You can trade on forex, indices, commodities, shares and treasuries. Please note, tax treatment depends on individual circumstances and can be subject to change.

When you spread bet you take a position on whether you think the price of an instrument will rise or fall. You make a profit or loss based on whether or not your prediction was correct. Remember, profits and losses are relative to the full value of your position.
