  • How can I upgrade my account from demo to live?

    Click on the 'Login' button on the top navigation and then click on the ‘Live Account’ button to go to the live account online application form. Use your demo account login details to get started and then follow the step-by-step instructions to complete the additional fields to apply for your live account.

  • How long does it take to process an application for a live account?

    Our aim is to help you start trading as quickly as possible.  If you have already provided your supporting documents, for most customers this will happen within minutes.  However, there will be cases where additional documentation is needed before we can process your account application.

  • Do I need to deposit any funds to activate my account?

    You can sign in to your account as soon as your application has been successful and you have clicked on the verification link sent to your registered email address. However, you won’t be able to place a trade unless there are sufficient funds in your account to open a position. If you prefer to test strategies in a risk-free environment, our free demo account will allow you to practise trading with virtual funds.

  • What documentation could I be asked to provide when my application for a live account is being processed?

    Each applicant must provide a certified (true) copy of EITHER one of the following from Part I, or if the individual does not have a document from Part I, then 1 document from Part II and 1 document from Part III.

    Part I:

    •  Current Australian Driver’s Licence (front and back) – Must be current

    Part II:

    •  Australian Birth Certificate/Extract
    • Current Government Benefits/Pension Card (front and back) – Must be current
    • Australian Citizenship Certificate
    • Current Proof of Age Card (front and back) – Must be current
    • Australian Passport (current <2 years expired)
    •  Current Foreign Passport including the signature page

    Part III:

    •  A current Rating Authority (bill sighted) within preceding 3 months
    •  A document issued by the Australian Government/ Taxation Office within the preceding 12 months that records a debt payable by the individual to the Commonwealth (or by the Commonwealth to the individual), which contains the individual’s name and residential address. Block out the TFN before scanning, copying or storing this document
    • A document issued by a Public utilities provider within the preceding 3 months which records the provision of services

  • How do I apply for an account with CMC Markets?

  • How do I log into my CMC Markets Stockbroking account?

    Once you have received confirmation that your account has been opened, you can log in via our website. To sign in you will need to enter your Client Login Code and password as used on your application form.

  • How long does it take to transfer my securities from another firm?

    Your broker is required by the Australian Securities Exchange to transfer your securities in two business days. Please ensure your stockbroking account details (including account name) match your CHESS statement to avoid any delays.

  • Do I need to open a separate forex trading account to trade forex with CMC Markets?

    No, our CFD trading accounts offer FX trading. We do not offer a separate account that deals specifically in FX.
